David Motley is a 1980 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (BSME Cum Laude) and a 1988, graduate of the Harvard Business School (MBA). Mr. Motley has garnered a diverse array of experiences in both corporate and entrepreneurial settings including VP, GM roles with Respironics (acquired by Philips) and Covidien, Inc. (acquired by Medtronics).. In 2016, Mr Motley received Pitt’s prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award for Mechanical Engineering and Material Science.
Currently, Mr. Motley is involved in three enterprises: The BlueTree Venture Fund (Co-founder and Managing Partner), a Pittsburgh based venture capital firm, investing in med-tech and IT companies; Acclivity Development, LLC (Co-founder and Partner), a real estate development company that focuses on Pittsburgh’s complex urban in-fill opportunities and, Headwaters SC, a mid-cap investment banking firm.
Mr. Motley’s board and civic service includes: First National Bank (NYSE: FNB); ALung, a University of Pittsburgh-founded medical device company; Executive Director, Inner City Junior Tennis Program; Founder of Pitt’s Minority Engineering Endowed Scholarship Fund.
