Feasibility

The first stage of the replication process is Feasibility. During this 12 to 18 month period, the NCAT team determines whether it is possible to create a sustainable center for arts and technology in the city.

To make this judgment, the NCAT team manages the research for the city’s due diligence report.  The due diligence process determines whether the city has the key attributes that are critical for successful replication, including:

  • the need for the core programs offered by the MBC educational model
  • an understanding of the local not-for-profit landscape
  • local funding capacity
  • potential leadership
  • potential location and site selection

To complete the research, the NCAT team meets with local:

  • community leaders;
  • nonprofit and social service organizations;
  • youth and adult education and training facilities;
  • arts groups;
  • employers;
  • corporations;
  • public school districts and school boards.

Once the feasibility report is concluded, the convening group from the city can decide to move into the planning phase.
