Joining the Network and Spreading Hope

Throughout the United States, communities are struggling with the pressing problems of low academic achievement and high unemployment. The national high school graduation and college entrance rates for low-income, urban African-American and Hispanic youth are sub average. The current economic climate has led to record levels of jobless workers desperately searching for new, stable careers. Thankfully, the National Center for Arts and Technology has an educational model that is able to affect these populations and their neighborhoods positively and meaningfully.

NCAT uses Manchester Bidwell Corporation’s (MBC) combination of two programmatic frameworks – youth arts and adult career training – at the core of new centers for arts and technology. The strategy of the centers, adapted for local conditions and needs, is to provide life-changing educational opportunities and philosophies to their students. These constituents then distribute NCAT’s ideas of a better life through beauty and learning to other members of their community.

Eventually, a network of these organizations will spread across the nation and the world. The process of replicating MBC’s success is intensive but worthwhile for the cities that pursue creating a center. More information on Manchester Bidwell Corporation and the phases of the replication process can be found here:
